Prior to forming ADC Strategies, Timothy L. (Tim) Hanford was a Director in the Federal Policy Group, a division of Clark & Wamberg LLC where Mr. Hanford managed lobbying and other advocacy initiatives on behalf of clients before Congress, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the IRS.

Prior to the acquisition of the Federal Policy Group by Clark Consulting in February 2002, Mr. Hanford was a Director in the Washington National Tax Services office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Prior to joining the firm in 2001, Mr. Hanford was Majority Tax Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, where he served for 14 years. In this position, he advised Chairman Bill Archer and other Members of the House of Representatives in the development and analysis of federal tax legislation. He also coordinated tax policy and procedural initiatives with representatives of the Treasury Department and the IRS.

Key areas of expertise include corporate and business taxation; financial products; estate and gift taxation; tax accounting; alternative minimum tax; insurance company and product taxation; tax compliance and tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Hanford participated in the development of several major pieces of enacted legislation, including most recently the Taxpayer Bill of Rights 2, the Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996, the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, and the Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998.

Prior to working with the Committee, Mr. Hanford spent seven years as an attorney at the California firm of Cooley, Godward, Castro, Huddleson & Tatum. He is a member of the bar in both California (where he served as an advisor to the State Bar Tax Section Executive Committee from 1988 to 2001) and the District of Columbia, and is a frequent speaker on a wide variety of tax topics.

Mr. Hanford received a B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Harvard University.
